He is an expert in knee and sports medicine, especially patellofemoral joint and pediatric knee disorders. His academic dissertation took place in Tampere University in 2009, titled: "Traumatic Patellar Dislocation and Clinical Significance of Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Injury". Petri is current president of Finnish Arthroscopy & Knee Association. He is past chair and member of ESSKA Patellofemoral Instability Committee. Petri was selected for ISAKOS patellofemoral traveling fellowship in 2010, and visited many high-level centers in USA, Asia and Europe.
